Piedmont Development of the Killick Project
Piedmont Lithium is slated to start construction in 2024 on its 30,000 MT lithium hydroxide plant in Tennessee. Piedmont has an offtake agreement with Atlantic Lithium for spodumene feed from Ghana. Piedmont is currently purchasing spodumene from Quebec and plans on developing its Carolina spodumene property. The Carolina project is facing some opposition over concerns about what the project will do to the water supply in the area.
When Piedmont entered into an agreement for the Killick project there were pending drill results that Piedmont like got to see that were not released.
Piedmont's plan for Killick is likely to fast track the project because it has easy, cheap sea access to Tennessee, because it does not face the water issues that their Carolina project faces, because the time for the Tennessee plant requires that they have spodumene feed stock on hand, and because the Ghana project still has to be developed. .
