Calibre's Ambitions In Newfoundland
My speculation, but I believe Calibre's entry into Newfoundland goes beyond just their acquisitive acquisition of Marathon Gold. I believe Calibre is taking an advantage of the opportunity to get hold of a high grade 1.8% open pit operation that is 50% complete and fully funded to completion as a foot hold into Newfoundland.
Calibre was involved with Newmarket and the discovery of Fosterville mine in Australia that was one of the highest grade underground mines in the world that Kirkland Lake acquired and made a killing on. Fosterville has the same rocks and geology as Sokoman.
Calibre has become a very agressive vertically integrated explorer through to producer. They have a top rated geologist and with agressive drill programs that keep finding high grade deposits.
Calibre has acquired high grade concessions in Nicaragua that they are currently exploiting at great profits.
Here is Ryan King from three years ago with some history on Calibre.
I believe Calibre has ambitions in Newfoundland that go beyond Marathon. He talks about Fosterville starting at the 9:25 mark but I recommend listing to everything from the beginning.

Sorry, that was 1.8 g/t and not 1.8%. Most of the ore is open pit.
