I doubt it will happen in America since Ukraine invasion. Mid terms will add a couple of seats for Republicans and they will win in 2024 so maybe in 2028 regulations will tighten. Remember Liberals in Canada with NDP are way way left of Americans,

That's true... and it will buy some time to take profits before Canadian rules are adopted. But long term (years? decades? months?), something akin to those rules will be adopted... unless the whole climate change business is disproven by a new ice age. If extreme weather (of whatever origin) increases, every Western country will adopt those rules, whether they have the desired effect or not.
