Sprott hold period

I notice that the shares Sprot recently bought are subject to a hold until Oct 15.  I wonder if the sp will start to run after that?

I guess shares people hold only make the stock price run if other people want to buy them and they won't sell them at or around the current price? I mean I could hold all the stock and the fact that I can sell it on Tuesday would do nothing if no one wanted to buy it. Having said that if people did want to buy it and I wouldn't sell it then it would run, run run. However this company is ...more

In this case my queery is more in terms of the specific investor and size of investment, and whether the stock's inevitable runup was being dampened until Sprot could play with all the stock he bought. But you're right in that while there seems to be little buying, there always apperars a sizable ask at a relatively low price after each news release. A sort of plug that absorbs buying and ...more

Yeah it's odd.  All I know is with a PE this low this stock only has one eventual direction to go :-)
Comment by morecents7 on Sep 23, 2021 11:58am
Perhaps. But given that assessment, if not now, when? What is the change that will bring about its current direction, which is down... One would expect even a slow steady rise with these annoucements. Unless there are just a lot of early investor moving out of the sector and satisfied with selling at certain share prices. I think I'll leave it alone for now. But hate not undersanding this ...more

Look at what's happening in the short term with New Found Gold. I think NFG is turning the corner (more impressive results this morning), and this will bring back traders to SPOT.  I'm not sure money "chasing it down" at this level is dumb money, on the contrary. You're getting it cheaper than Eric Sprott did in the last raise. Cheers, Hen

Hey MoreCents, if you can't be patient and want to do some trading check out ZEN for possible quick gains.

haha, thanks for the tip.   More often than not, I hold my stocks for years (sometimes mixed results!). But I like to understand what moves them and to correct my assumptions.  But perhaps there isn't much to analyze at the moment. No intelligibilities to be had, just the quicksands of empirical residue! - I'll go quiet for the time being.

Morecents, I believe I mentioned this in a post recently, but I think there are a few things that could move the share price in the short to mid term: 1) A major new discovery at one of their partners' properties (in which they hold shares), similar to New Found Gold. Or NFG could continue to bring the goods. 2) SPOT goes public with their plan to roll out Litho lens (or other tech) as SaaS ...more

Thanks BC Dude. I think that #2 in your list will be most interesting. Can't be certain how it will play out, but would seem to me to be a way to ncrease the bottom line and I doubt it will affect consulting revenue much or only increase it. I have to go back and look at the NFG story (I'm new on the scene from around the last Sprot buy-in), but from what I glean, they made a deal that ...more

Morecents7 -- I don't think it's something specific to SPOT that is keeping the share price down. I think it's more of a general small cap/penny stock clean up that is going on as weaker shareholders/institutions who can't stomach 20-50%+ drop in their stocks sell their positions. These types of drops that run over several months after blow off tops like we had last February ...more

Thanks Hen, I just made a similar comment over on Enwave as Spot and Enwave are sort of behaving the same - great news but can't get any traction and drifting lower. I've also concluded it may just be the season.  More big players doing tax loss and shifting industries and so on. Not enough new investors to mitigate the slide. yes to the people thing. I notice they have quite a ...more

Hi morecents. Yes, I think we're in a bear market from small caps.  Here are some I own: GSI -- down 59% from year high. SPOT -- down 41% from year high. GDNP -- down 58 % from year high. GRN -- down 53 from year high. NFG -- down 50% from year high (just two days ago, but has rebounded since). The list goes on and on... As for SPOT, I think none of the roster showing on their ...more

howdy BCdude, yup, all of the above. gotta believe these guys are setting themselves up real good, and diversified all over the place. i'm not much for hype but it's only a matter of time and patience, these are the days we'll look back on realizing what exactly was going on, after the fact. Cy.
