Less shares???

I just looked at SSE's number of issued shares (something I had not looked for a long time) and it looks that the number of shares have been drasticaklly reduced. I could be mistaken, but I always though that the number was way higher than the one shown currently. So, has there been share consolidation within the last year and in which case I have missed such announsement from the company?
