Canada is messed up

CDC warned Americans to stay away from Canada at this time due to increasing infection rate and low % of vaccines administered. Ontario going into full lockdown this afternoon. Boy, we could sure use this product ASAP, the next NR should provide a roadmap for next few months

This should be re-titled.  As an Atlantic Canadian it's insulting (we're opening up stores, malls and gyms  100% capacity): "Canada is messed up - excluding Atlantic Canada"

Absolutely agree...most of Canada is run and control by outside sources and our little , tiny  TINY, politicians bow down to anything...it should be a crime for them to have NO,  backbone... NONE.

My apologies, you are correct, Atlantic Canada should be the blueprint for how to deal with this, it's the only region in Canada that got it right.

Apology accepted and your compliment is appreciated.  We're proud of our success, so far and it ain't over yet!  That's why we all need THRM's help and of course vaccines.

I am in NB, but now working in Ontario.  My family still lives in NB.  I can tell you that the regulations/ restrictions are far more lax in Ontario wrt to border control, mandated self isolation (with check ins, peace officers) and better contact tracing.  The economy is no rougher than anywhere else, and housing markets are doing well. Other provinces can learn from the Atlantic ...more

The problem is  it only takes a few to break the rules and spread the virus. The virus spreads more where there is  high density population.  The two new areas of increased covid spread are Brazil  and India.  Last month the news in India they were beating the virus through herd immunity since many got covid.  Looks like not any more. Correct, few A-holes can break the rules, but that's no reason to not have tough rules.  The fact that all our new cases are "travel outside the Atlantic bubble" and close contact to those cases means, yes there is a ticking time bomb around every corner.  We can't stop people from coming and going.  But we can enforce 14 day quarantines on their return ...more

Agreed. Manitoba doesn't have many routes into, like NB, as well as SK. They could have easily locked the borders like they do when I travel thru Edmunston. Book travel in advance, show your papers - and self isolate.

Early in the pandemic there was a national public opinion poll asking people how seriously they were taking covid and preventative measures.  Sask and Man had the worst scores, about a third of respondents doing nothing to prevent it.  Just going on the eye test, some of the worst offenders are Hutterites and their ilk and fundamentalist religious groups.  It's like they're ...more
