Pfizer has agreed to buy U.S. biotech company Arena Pharmaceuticals in a deal valued at about $6.7 billion. ... Under the agreement, Pfizer will acquire all the outstanding shares of Arena for $100 a share in an all-cash deal. That represents a 100.2% premium to Friday's closing price on Arena shares.

Given the future potential of all that TLT has, I can't see ever making any sense out of an all cash deal here - at ANY price - for several reasons.  Aside from the obvious tax liabilities and the near impossibility of receiving full value for it, another issue (which some here might fail to take into account) is reinvestment risk. Ah, well... this dreamy talk is still too way far ...more

I think the buyout, IF we get one, will be by next qtr, $1B Canadian, from Li Ka Shing. Or, more likely in the $3B-7B US, due to a bidding war, after TLT gains BTD and more solid CR% late 2022-early2023. Just IMO.

We have to get Blowjobjoe's bosses ' permission to stay over 0.35 by the end of this year 1st.
Comment by menoalittle on Dec 13, 2021 10:39am
Rump, I just can't see where any buyout attempt that early in the game here would possibly be "friendly" in any sense of the word... especially at that cheap a valuation.
Comment by Rumpl3StiltSkin on Dec 13, 2021 10:55am
I basically agree Meno, I think the only way for Li Ka Shing to get TLT on the cheap is to get his stink bid in NOW. More or less. He does like to buy cheap.
Comment by robertshaw on Dec 13, 2021 1:59pm
Agree, as Blowjobjoe's bosses are willing to naked sell cheap now, maybe Blowjobjoe's bosses could help Li Kashing to achieve his goal.

This is not in oncology though. But nevertheless, it offers some insights and valuation behind a buyout.
