Apophis, That doesn't make sense. If you are a potential suitor of TLT and you buy a "large chunk of shares by keeping the price low". If you buy a large chuck of shares, you will be forcing the price not.up, not down.

Sorry skys1 I should've added over a long period of time , you are correct if it was done in a 1 or 2 day period it would propel the price upward..

Also, offers to buy the company are not based on share price but future value of what the company is worth based on what it is selling even though they often get presented in a price per share manner, that just makes it easier for the market to digest. So if someone decides to buy the company it will be for a $ amount and it won't matter if it's trading at 30 cents or 3 dollars. Keeping it

It's like using chum in the ocean. Throwing a bucket of fish guts to attract a greater ketch of fish. Selling shares down does the same thing they have hoped for. On a major day throwing cheap shares into the market to attract others in fear that their shares will go down much lower. What has happened to the shorters, NO one is selling their shares cheap. SKYS1; i think he is making the argument that if someone wants to buyout tlt, their buyout premium would look better if the stock is at .25 than .75. Personally, i think it is just a lack of buying. but at this point yesterday there were bascially no shares traded then a flurry after 3pm, so its still early. I am thinking of trasnferring some money over and making a last buy if there is actually

But FGP, by buying that "large chunk" of shares to buy the company, the price p\s would be forced up killing that theory. Which would in practice make the cost of the take over, more expensive not less.

skys1, i think we are saying the same thing. i thought it was a reference to shorting to cap the price. regardless, i don't think that is the case, hopefully there will be another flurry of buying this afternoon.
