Technically not law yet but if passed retroactive to June I believe. Man it's going to hurt TLT shareholders a lot . Hate it

Speaking to a tax lawyer yesterday who didn't think it would pass, but you never know. Paying over 50% taxes on salary is more than enough. So hopefully we just pay taxes on only 50% of any Capital gain.

I loaded up my TFSA with TLT as well. If this stock turns out to be a 100 bagger as I think it just might, I will be incredibly happy!! Just knowing the Government can't lay thier paws on my earnings inside the TFSA makes me positively giddy

Just don't let them-- catch you trading in your account--that's a no--no.

The sentiment is true. Let's be optimistic that this next few months will be transformative for TLT. But Count those dollars and have our 1st world problems when that all happens. Until then I keep grabbing a few K here and there.

Think your investment guy is being too conservative but what the actual line in the sand is with CRA with respect to trading is anyone's guess. Think if you "repositioned" your TFSA portfolio once a month, you should be fine but WTKDIK.

I kind of like the 20 /40/40 set up 20% margin account to play around 40 % Rrsp which is pretty straight forward which tax bracket you're in Tfsa is a grey area investing ok trading not so much depends on frequency and yes if you get some six figure gains cra would likely investigate.

You folks worrying about the proposed capital gains inclusion rate increase are getting ahead of yourselves. First we need to have gains. The rate only increases after $250K. If you have gains over $250K, suspect you can afford the tax. I personally would welcome a tax issue if it meant I realized those size of gains. Hope to have this problem in 2025.
