Funny

Some time ago I mused (kind of) how TEI should pick up some Bitcoin with its cash.

KNR is one of growing number of companies that announced today they had done so.  The stock was up almost 30% on that news.

Bitcoin is entering the new cycle which will see it hit new all time highs and some.  Whether folk believe in it or not, doesn't matter.  More and more institutions and investors will have a piece of it as part of a diversified portfolio and that will just push the value up.

they should pay a 1 penny dividend.  those with a time horizon greater than 3 months should now be paid.

Not so funny anymore but becoming a reality that more and more entities out there will having.a piece of this. We haven't seen nothing yet.   I don't quite fully understand the technology but I don't have to if there will be a lot of entities throwing big coin at it. I do understand that a few altcoins have a technological use that can be explosive.  Once the new ...more

If investors like bitcoin, they should buy bitcoin.  It shouldn't be the function of a CEO of a cleantech company to speculate on bitcoin for them. It's just another risk asset that's going up because it's going up. In hindsight it worked out for KNR, but what if bitcoin had dropped 50 percent? A microcap CEO needs to use the company's scarce capital to grow the core ...more

Agree, that is the idea, distribute cash you don't think you can effectively employ to shareholders via a dividend so that they can use that cash the way they see fit. Certainly not appropriate for a microcap that has tons of room to grow, but for big companies with actual treasuries where things are parked, it will be a new asset class that is gaining wider acceptance.
