The bullion banks taking the short side have huge mark-to-market losses on Comex,

The shorts are 28 in number, with an average loss of $2.22bn. Some of them are also short of silver, adding a further $480m. Putting these positions together suggests that one or more bullion banks could be in trouble if prices rise from here.

 I suspect the gold miner's future sales are included in this number. Alasdair Macleod may have conflated bullion banks short with the commercial shorts... whatever

Yep they tried to play the huge disconnect between paper and physical Gold but got screwed when the physical kept on rising. So now they need help to cover. June Gold down again $2.321 now. This smells of central bank selling. Swiss central bank has been know to kick the Gold market in the teeth to help out losing positions. Should be interesting to watch when they cover those shorts. I'm sure ...more
