Counterfeit Titanium Got Into Boeing and Airbus Jets

Fascinating story in today's NYT. A supplier in China shipped counterfeit Titanium using forged certificates of conformity. The fake Titanium was inadvertently laundered through a Turkish supplier to American and European aircraft manufacturers. "The affected parts include a heat shield that protects a component, which connects a jet’s engine to the frame, from extreme heat." Yikes!!!
 
Moral of the story: know your supply chain, own your supply chain.

sounds like a place where i worked ,  everything was guaranteed , quality was inspected in and if product was defective buyer was rembursed all cost. jmho

The moral of that article is that you have to know all the way down the supply chain who your sources are and that they are trustworthy. Ultimately, blockchains will be used to better track where the materials that go into products are coming from, and whether forced labor was used, whether they came from a conflict zone, whether they came from a sanctioned country (a lot of North Korean ...more
