Hack coincided with American holiday, Juneteenth (though hack is still ongoing). Hack targets large swath of auto dealers / car industry. Hack follows some US tariffs a month ago on cars from a certain country (and EU tariffs a week ago on cars from that same country).
I wonder who this could be? I wonder who could be doing this?
The hack sends a strong message: a single point of failure in the auto sector can be disruptive. But this is a software "point of failure". What about something material like a car component-- or the metal that makes that component?
The best reply to this attack will come on July 3rd when a certain rare earths company I know of declares Independence. We shall see. Either that or the country I suspect is doing this hack decides to issue more bans or restrictions-- or more hacks.
