Exciting news for the North American lithium market emerged today with a strategic collaboration between two Alberta nanotechnology research labs Volt Lithium (VLT.v VLTLF).
This collaboration addresses the urgent problem of responsible water management for the energy business today while expanding our access to oilfield brines that offer an economic source of lithium for the clean energy transition of tomorrow
Designed to leverage nanotechnology and water processing expertise to remove contaminants from oilfield brine for use in VLT's proprietary DLE technology, this is a significant component in advancing VLT's efforts in achieving commercial and economic extraction of lithium from produced water.
VLT's innovative IES-300 DLE technology has the ability to achieve significant lithium recoveries of 90% from concentrations as low as 34 mg/L as well as 97% recoveries using 120mg/L concentrations while maintaining commercial economics.
VLT is already on track to implement their DLE production method at its Rainbow Lake Property in the second half of 2024. Rainbow Lake has a robust foundation for its PEA, expected to be released this summer, as the initial resource report at VLT's Property revealed a substantial lithium resource of 4.3 million tonnes with concentrations reaching up to 121mg/L.
