Rational investors

if they want to buy, would like to see the market price decline now, so they can buy more shares for less money.

If they are desparate to sell quickly and are really only a trader, they want to see the price rise, now, so they may try to pump the stock.

That should be obvious. So those with high priced estimates are not necessarily patient longs that expect a deal announcement in January and that they will hold on until the deal closes, some months later.

I am curious about the supposed $4 offer that WND (obviously foolishly) rejected.

When was it (not after the AQN bid at $2.50, I suppose), who bid $4, what was the WND price at the time (presumably higher than when AQN bid $2.50), and why did WND reject it?

Can anyone supply these historical data?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. That explains one of the reasons it went to the high $3s in Jan. 2004. After settling back below $1, it got a bit higher at the end of June 2008. With the benefit of hindsight, especially seeing that the average price over 10 years was around $2, the offer of $4 should have been accepted in that bubble, because on a fundamental basis it was not worth anything like that price, in 2004 or ...more

Peter, I have been looking at that along with a hedge-fund guy who is a longtime subscriber at my site. We have been looking at the real and expected cash flows, assets, balance sheet, talking to Management, etc. to answer that question. While I reserve comprehensive coverage of things for my people, I am willing to give you a general answer.  And I will stick to a general answer because ...more

Yes, looking at value on FVR too. Not a secret, as you know I post on that board too. And what kind of person decides that Hedge Fund guys know nothing, without knowing who it is and their track record? I know many shareholder are biased against the Hedge Funds that ran the Proxy fight against their hero, the WND CEO. Of course you have the same people to thank for the money you will make because ...more

The CEO of WND put the company for sale before Savitr launched their proxy battle. Savitr only took value as it cost the company cash to keep the deadbeats away. The losses would of been much higher if they got elected. Proof is the votes indicated that NO big Canadian hedge fund or institution voted for Savitr.  If Savitr said respectful things about the WND CEO and Board that built this ...more

Bakken is just as polite here as he is on the Finavera board.

I agree BUT you guys gotta quit using the word "overpay". We will be paid what it's worth and WND is worth north of $3.00, maybe shy of $4.00.

Xtr what happened to Mellonpuss ? Looks lIke SH put an X on X. If I may come to my own defense here, because I am one of the ones who believes a buyer will 'overpay',  I have always meant that someone will pay more than they SET OUT TO PAY. This is, after all, an auction. I buy stuff on Ebay and set a max bid but iI hope it will never get to it. I think we are looking at a similar ...more
