Amazing

Did you long term holders foolishly vote down an offer of $4 years ago?

I doubt it.

But some, if they have a chance, say they will vote down a $4 offer now, apparently.

In July 2012, a short time ago, the Market told us that WND was worth $1.20.

What something is worth is what people are willing to pay for it in a free market.

Of course there are other measures of value, but as investors, the only way WE make money is if

1. the company pays us dividends or

2. the value of the stock on the market increases or

3. someone offers to buy the company at a higher price

So far, the value of this company is the price on the market, which is the guesses of many people about what the ultimate buyout price might be, discounted for uncertainty and the amount of time until the actual cash would be in hand. This is going to take months to close, after it passes HSR review in Washington and regulatory review in California and Puerto Rico.

If you can't stand the suspense and keep whining for the company to be foolish and divulge more information before a deal, you probably don't have the stomach to be in this kind of risk arbitrage type of investment.

And calling people, who don't agree with you, names, is NOT an argument. In fact, it suggests that your own views can't be supported by logical argument, because if your could do it, you would not need to try character assassination instead.

NAV? Irrelevant. 2008 prices, at the top of the bubble (the Bubble generally and for uneconomic alternative energy)? Irrelevant. The value now is the bid, NOW. And buyers look for EBITDA, what they have to pay to get it, and how it compares to their own operations and other ways they can expand. Viterra is NOT a utility and did not have the same regulatory hurdles. It is not a comparable. The ...more
