"If this is in fact Brookfield's last and final offer, Western Wind believes that the expiry of Brookfield's bid will unleash a true auction for the company. The company is hoping that Brookfield lives up to its two public news releases and promises, where it emphatically stated, "This is our best and final offer." Western Wind will be looking for a public confirmation from Brookfield, that it will withdraw its bid and never again bid for Western Wind, if its minimum tender condition is not satisfied by Feb. 11, 1013. Such a complete withdrawal will allow Western Wind to continue with a normal sales process, which has never been given a reasonable opportunity to be freely pursued since the launch of the sales process on July 30."

 

Can't wait for the unleashing of the true auction process.

Impega I do not see any "Unleashing of the true Auction Process" as BEP is not going anywhere. The "Unleashing" has been "chilled" by BEP as in Jeff's own words. Some of us here are hoping that a big NR is coming as WND has been quiet after the BEP extension. I think they have been quiet  because most of their time is now being pre-occupied posting on SH ...more

Modgil I guess BEP is content to hang around and "chill" the auction process. Why else extend an offer at a price that already failed to garner enough support? Judging by the stock price today, the market sees little chance of their bid succeeding.

if the stock price jumped to 2.52 some trader would hit that hard as there is plenty of time to turn another trade before it gets down to crunch time.  even today the penny pinchers are at work skimming away.  Jeff needs to put some icing on this cake fast or I think the arbs will make this sale happen this time.  We need the numbers from the tender results. Hopefully that will be ...more
