New High-Grade Shoot Defined at Upper 8 Target of West Red Lake Gold's (WRLG.v WRLGF) Madsen Property Last week, West Red Lake Gold (WRLG.v WRLGF) reported additional drill results from its Upper 8 Target at the 100% owned Madsen Property located in the Red Lake Gold District in Ontario, Canada.
Drill Results Highlights
- 1.5m @ 21.44 g/t Au from 297.7m to 299.2m including 0.5m @ 52.17 g/t Au with ~30 specks of visible gold.
- 2m @ 7.41 g/t Au from 340.25m to 342.25m including 0.5m @ 23.74 g/t Au.
Geological Context
- New Ore Shoot:
- Dimensions: ~30m wide and 130m along plunge.
- Orientation: Similar to 8 Zone (110°/-40° azimuth/plunge).
- Potential: Remains open at depth for further drilling.
- Upper 8 Target:
- Position: Located 750m up-plunge from the main 8 Zone deposit.
- Host Rock: Russet Lake Ultramafic unit.
- Mineralization Style: Blue-grey quartz and quartz-sulfide veinlets hosted within shear domains.
- Mineral Resource (8 Zone):
- Indicated: 87,700 oz @ 18 g/t Au.
- Inferred: 18,200 oz @ 14.6 g/t Au
- Structural Similarity: Upper 8 shear domain mirrors the structural orientation of the deeper 8 Zone.
Potential for Expansion
- Drilling Design: Targets near-surface extension of the mineralized shear corridor; leverages the association of gold mineralization with Russet Lake Mafic Intrusives (RSMI).
- Exploration Outlook: The discovery aligns with high-grade Red Lake deposits and shows strong potential for additional high-grade zones across the Madsen property.
Expressing optimism about the high-grade results and visible gold showings believing Upper 8 could lead to the next significant discovery, WRLG's CEO Shane Williams, commented:
“The initial results we received from Upper 8 were very encouraging and motivated our team to add a second drill to focus solely on this new high-grade area. Upper 8 was already a shallow geologic analog to the deeper 8 Zone, but with the exceptional grades and visible gold showings we’re now encountering this target is becoming truly reminiscent of the high-grade gold mineralization Red Lake is known for. It’s still early days, but we believe the Upper 8 target has the potential to become the next new significant discovery in the Red Lake gold camp and supports the likelihood for the presence of more high-grade deposits like 8-Zone yet to be discovered across the Madsen property.”
Notably, this drilling program underscores WRLG’s commitment to unlocking the high-grade potential of the Upper 8 Target, which may become a key asset within the Red Lake District.
