The Red Lake region in Ontario boasts a storied history in gold mining, having yielded an impressive 30 million ounces of gold from high-grade zones. WRLG exercises control over both the Madsen Gold Mine and the Rowan Gold Property within this historically significant district.
Madsen serves as the cornerstone of WRLG's endeavors, distinguished by its financial stability and full authorization. It features an advanced mill capable of processing over 800 tonnes per day. The Rowan project, an integral part of WRLG's diverse portfolio, encompasses the formerly productive gold mines of Rowan, Mount Jamie, and Red Summit.
Recently, WRLG shared encouraging results from metallurgical tests conducted on the Rowan Mine Deposit, a pivotal section within the Rowan Property. These findings affirm the coarse nature of the gold deposit, consistent with discoveries at Madsen and adjacent deposits, emphasizing the geological wealth of the area.
Metallurgical examinations on Rowan Master Composites validate the feasibility of processing Rowan vein material through the Madsen Mill with minimal adjustments to the existing flowsheet. The results showcase an impressive gravity recovery rate exceeding 98% after a 48-hour cyanide leach of gravity tailings. Significantly, the low cyanide consumption, below 0.23 kg/t, strengthens the operational efficiency of the extraction process.
WRLG also reported a notable presence of sulphide minerals in the Rowan Master Composites. As observed in Madsen and the Satellite deposits, the primary sulphides identified are pyrrhotite, followed by pyrite. Sphalerite was also detected at Rowan, frequently demonstrating spatial associations with visible gold.
Looking forward, West Red Lake Gold Mines has outlined plans to conduct additional metallurgical testing at Rowan to validate extraction under diverse conditions, thereby enhancing the comprehension of Rowan's potential as a robust source of high-grade gold.
