The best setup forhouseholds
Ethernet. It's cheap, easy to install and speed/bandwidth are maxed out 100% of the time. I have 430-490 Mbps down and 16Mbps up all the time, in every corner of my home (and I'm only paying for 150 Mbps). I have a fantastic (not rented) router that can reach the park down the street if I care to wander down there. So I don't see the need for Wifi in the home for all the heavy lifting. Your doorbell and lightbulb doesn't need anythng fancy.

But you are not normal. In fact on the standard bell curve for normacy you would be graded abnormal. The Tier 1`s know that, the marketing agencies know that, the staff of IIROC most likely know that by now, and we know that. WTF cares about your cheap chinese cell phone performance in a backwoods mall and whether you even have a doorbell? At least try to be pertinent.

Couldn't agree more RS. There's nothing like a hard wired connection. If it has an Ethernet port I plug it in.

Or you could always have 30, 40, and 50 foot ethernet cables running all over the floors.:-)) But I'm sure astute wifi connosieurs have custom designed homes with ethernet cables run inside the walls to all outlets. Doesn't everybody other than those of us tripping over the cords?

Ethernet cables fit nicely behind baseboards. You can feed them down through heating vents for between floors, or follow drain pipes, cold air return vents, etc. to the basement. I installed all my cabling in a house already built. The only telltale evidence is a short length of wire poking out from a floor vent or under a baseboard here and there. Thery were incredibly easy to install.
