Up over 16% today with 8.8 times the average volume, Vior Inc. (VIO.v VIORF) has launched a fully-funded, +60,000-meter drill program at its Belleterre Gold Project, located in the historic Belleterre Greenstone Belt in Quebec’s Abitibi-Tmiscamingue region.
Running through mid-2025, this drill program is the largest at Belleterre since 1959 and aims to explore high-priority targets identified through extensive geological work.
The project consists of 635 claims covering 348 km² and includes the former Belleterre gold mine, which produced over 750,000 oz of gold and 95,000 oz of silver between 1936 and 1959. This district-scale exploration package represents a consolidation of highly prospective underexplored areas.
Key Objectives of the Drill Program
- Belleterre Mine Trend Area: The program targets 46,000 meters of drilling to extend gold mineralization along the 6-km Belleterre Mine Trend, including historic high-grade zones with past production exceeding 750,000 oz of gold at an average grade of 10.7 g/t. Key areas of interest include north-dipping gold-bearing systems and high-grade shoots along the Belleterre mine structure.
- Regional Area Targets: Around 14,000 meters of drilling will explore other areas of the project, focusing on varied commodities and mineralization styles, including gold, nickel, and base metals across multiple locations such as Guillet Mine Vein, Lac Paradis, Rivard-Savard, and others.
Surface Assay Highlights
- Aubelle Vein System: 50.1 g/t Au
- Belleterre 19 Vein: 21.7 g/t Au, 87.4 g/t Ag
- Conway and Paquin Veins: 274.9 g/t Au, 59.8 g/t Au, 44.9 g/t Ag
Regional Area Highlights
- Lac Paradis Showings: Up to 20.3 g/t Au, 394 g/t Ag
- Guillet Mine Vein: Surface results include 26 g/t Au and 36.8 g/t Au.
Mark Fedosiewich, President and CEO of VIO, commented, "With the capital raised from our recent oversubscribed financing and the support from our strategic shareholder, Osisko Mining Inc., Vior has begun this pivotal phase of drilling with our carefully selected drill targets that we believe will unlock the significant growth potential of Belleterre. This program marks a substantial milestone for Vior, with the belief that Belleterre could be the next major gold discovery in Quebec, thereby benefiting all stakeholders, including the communities of Belleterre and Long Point First Nation ("LPFN")."
