Update on Belleterre Gold Project Drill Program: +60,000m, Two Rigs Turning, 19 Holes In First Three Weeks - Vior Inc. (VIO.v VIORF)
Today, Vior Inc. (VIO.v VIORF) provided an update on its +60,000-meter diamond drill program at the Belleterre Gold Project in Quebec’s historic Belleterre Greenstone Belt with two drill rigs focused on high-priority targets within the Belleterre Mine Trend.
Progress and Key Findings
- Drilling Completed: 19 drill holes totaling 4,054 meters within the first three weeks.
- Target Area: Focus on the Belleterre Mine Trend, near the historic Belleterre gold mine.
- Geological Observations:
- Logging reveals sulphide mineralized quartz-veining in altered mafic volcanic rocks.
- Confirmed extension of mineralization and alteration beyond historic production areas.
- Intersections include up to 16.6 meters of sulphide mineralized zones.
Impact on Geological Model
- Validation: The findings align closely with the geological model, supporting potential extensions beyond known mineralized zones.
- Targeting Improvement: These early observations will help Vior optimize drill targets for the ongoing program through 2024 and into 2025.
Focus on Belleterre Mine Area
- Scope: Drill holes range from 80 to 500 meters in length, with vertical depths between 70 and 400 meters.
- Results: 15 holes intersected typical Belleterre Mine-style sulphide mineralization, enhancing the understanding of the system’s structure and continuity.
Next Steps and Core Sample Analysis
- Core Samples: Over 1,244 core samples sent to ALS assay laboratory in Val d'Or, Quebec; results pending.
- Future Drilling: Plans to advance eastward along the vein system and explore below historical levels of the Belleterre Gold Mine area.
Temporary Relocation Due to Hunting Season
- Vior has relocated drilling activities 2.5 km southwest to the Aubelle Deposit area to accommodate local hunters.
- Drilling at the Belleterre Mine area will resume after the hunting season concludes.
Highly encouraged by these observations, President and CEO of VIO, Mark Fedosiewich, commented:
"To date, we have completed 19 drill holes and 4,054 m at the former Belleterre Mine area. Logging of the drill core indicates the extension of favourable Belleterre Mine style mineralization proximal to the historic production area, with up to 16.6 m core length of sulphide mineralized quartz-veining in altered mafic volcanic rocks. These observations are validating our team's geological model and suggest potential extensions beyond known mineralization. This early success will help us optimize our drill targeting as we continue the drill program through fall 2024 and into 2025."
