VGCX' s huge short is reminiscent of Pretium.
PVG had huge stock price and short position swings as production expectations changed from q to q.
Big difference here is that VGCX's trading volume (CDN and US) is a fraction of Pretium when the shorting was active.
Short squeeze was a common topic on the PVG board.
Exploration news could light a bonfire under VGCX price and consequently catch shorts without a way to cover.

NO ONE shorts a float this tight this much without inside info or a huge cross is arranged. Period. Mike drop. VGCX has the right to buy back shares too. Why are they not jumping in here then? Something is fishy.

Indeed strange that they did not buy back a single share, even after 30%+ drop within a month.Something is going on behind closed doors.

So today share price is again down more than 3% with only 18k shares traded in Toronto. Its dropping like a stone on light volume and more than 50% of the recent volume was generated by short sellers. Never seen this before.

Look around at every mining stock. Maybe the cartel is going to smash gold, or maybe they figured they could shake loose tax sellers.

It's being done by algorithmic trading. They target areas where a lot of stops are sitting. Short stocks below that level, trigger stops, cover short. Rinse, repeat.

Keep in mind that the short inteest numbers are always over a week old when they get published. Yes we have seen shorting in advance of financing at a discount to market previously, but like you I see no reason why a profitable company would need to issue more paper. It would be unforgiveable.

Well it would make sence to me to short the purchase of the warrents to lock in the price they paid for the 1.666 million share warrents. They can buyout the warrents to cover the shorts and make a tidy profit at these prices. DF
