Sell the rumour, buy the news?

Up 0.36 so far today, on disappointing results. Maybe we overthink it a bit sometimes.... most of the miners are up today.

Although results were disappointing to us, it is right in line with guidance, and we already took a huge hit for that. My guess is that it is already priced in at this level.

Maybe, except I remember dropping $1.60+ Fri 3/25 after the NR regarding guidance. The share drop was overblown, which is why 1q production is priced in. We all thought John was being conservative with the guidance, but of course he already knew what 1q production looked like. I'm sure we will still either make high end of guidance, or small beat. It's good to see that he has learned not ...more

You are not looking at it apples to apples. We are only down 1%, but that's because everything is up 4% today.    where would we be if everything was flat? Probably down 3-4%.

What interests me more is what happens in May  with the Coeur vote to double outstanding share float. I am hoping that it passes and they make a reasonable offer ($23) and we can all move on from this. It makes sense as they need the free cash flow for their existing mines.

It is still necessary that the general meeting of shareholders of CDE approves the possibility of doubling the number of shares and that the investors subscribe to it. If so, this operation is of course intended to prepare a major operation, but is it related to Victoria, it is not certain because CDE has great financing needs elsewhere (Rochester, Sivertip, Integra). When we know the past of CDE, ...more

If CDE managed to negotiate the purchase of Victoria, everything would depend on the price for the judgment of the shareholders! At the current price of 15 CAD for the balance of the shares, I would be very happy but this hardly seems possible to me although the evolution of the price of Victoria has not been very favorable for the past few weeks, which may indicate that the upside potential of ...more

At the current price of Victoria, would the operation be more expensive for CDE alone than with the help of Orion? In any event, the operation could not be carried out since CDE would only have the means for it after a granted capital increase. For a takeover bid on CDE, I wouldn't mind if it's at a good price because I admit that this mining company has often disappointed me, but it still ...more

Andre, this was always their intention from the start. The mistake they made was thinking they could get Victoria for cheap. Coeur's need for a 200k producer to finance their other ...more

There is a far greater chance that CDE is taken out than they take out anyone else.  CDE is worth more than their SP as their assets could be broken up and sold.  Krebs makes John look like a salesman.  John was an explorer who brought together the mine.  We just need a new coach to take the thing to the championship level.  We all have our strengths.  I think a ...more

( John starts to release monthly numbers again to scare the shorts.) He stopped releasing monthly numbers because the results were bad. We have not had a good month of production since July/Aug when he started releasing.  My point is that we actually need to have a good month first!

You're probably right about CDE's intention and their need for a producer, but has it gotten worse when Victoria's price is only slightly higher ? I think that if, after a capital increase, CDE obtains Victoria for its current capitalization possibly +20%, it would be a good operation !
Comment by Swingandmiss on Apr 09, 2022 11:25am
Andre, Victoria is not desperate to sell. Why would they agree to +20%?? That mentality is why they didn't get it the first time. The offer will need to be in the mid 20's.
Comment by kegman on Apr 09, 2022 11:29am
If he releases monthly regardless he takes away the shorters advantage.  They are close to the company otherwise they would not play with such a tight float. Better months are coming regardless as weather changes and even luck kicks in.  Blind squirrels find nuts right?  The 5,000 I just bought in low 15's are availble with a $3 gain in May.  Not being greedy.  Pool ...more
