Expectations

It seems that once again expectations were higher than results. Q4 grade was down but other metrics seemed to be on track. Better grades are coming in 2024 so results could be much better. Have to hunker down for the winter and wait. Still, expect some surprise news as these guys don't like to sit on their hands. Stay wram. DF

If these results don't move the stock price up a little...what will? I think with the price of gold what it is and likely rising and victoria meeting production targets....shouldn't that be bumping is up? If not what will? How do we get to "$10" a share as everyone keeps stating and the analysts predict? We seem only to be tied to the price of gold right now as far as stock price

It's difficult to put a positive spin on the Q4 results. A few weeks ago I speculated that the company would stack 2.6 million tonnes of ore on the HLP in Q4 at a grade of 0.72 g/tonne.  2.6 million tonnes was up from 2.5 in Q2 and 2.3 in Q3 where the production was impacted by wildfires. The grade was up from 0.65 g/tonne in Q3 based on management comments on the Q3 conference call ...more

Either you or McConnell is lying, if it's McConnell he is looking at years of shareholder litigation.  We intend to continue year-round stacking in 2024 and look forward to increased year-over-year production levels again this year." Mr. McConnell also noted, "We generated positive free cash flow during the fourth quarter and continued to reduce our net debt position, including ...more

MVargas appears to be stating facts, while the press release appears to be fudging them. h

Phoenix, I don't think you can say either of us is lying. I am certain that the company will pay off the Term Facility in 2024, but that is only 3 more $11 million installments.  It's repayment of the Revolving Credit Facility by the end of 2025 that is looking very difficult to achieve. As for increased production in 2024, I am not making any predictions - just pointing out that ...more

From Page 11 of the Q3 MDA 2023-q3-mda-vgcx.pdf On February 24, 2023, the Company released the results of its updated National Instrument 43-101 technical report on its 100% owned Eagle Gold Mine. The 2023 Eagle Technical Report highlights an increasing gold production profile, long mine life, and robust economics. Technical Report Highlights The updated mine plan considers cost and operating ...more

You needn't go further than your opening question If these results don't move the stock price up a little...what will? Perhaps start with a change of corporate culture towards "under promise and over deliver", entirely contrary to the one in place now. Throw in a speculative M&A rumour of a takeover "at a cheap price" Topped off with a hint that JMc will ...more

Fair enough.... I guess all I am saying is what is it going to take (obviously a bit of a rhetorical question, but realistic also) to get us to the $10 mark in 2024... regardless of promises/projections, this stock is only moving based on the price of gold now and some selling off/buying. So what is the catalyst going to be that makes the stock move up almost by double? it certainly cant just be ...more

You don't have to look any farther than the facts, design production was supposed to be 200,000/yr and we are supposed to be jumping up and down and doing the happy dance with 166,000  3 years later.
Comment by Bucky86 on Jan 15, 2024 4:58pm
Exactly... so my question stands... what are realistic expectations, given current realities with this stock? Again, I'm just curious, im not complaining or trying to justify my investement, just interested. What are analysts (who are smarter than us) thinking in saying $10, is $8 realistic. I dont want to hold this stock for 3+ years if possible

Just my guess but I think production between 180 and 190k are doable, the two wildcards that can have a biggest impact on the value of this company are Raven and the price of gold. Don't have a clear timeline for proving out Raven and gold should go up with interest rates turning but how much is anyone's guess
Comment by Swingandmiss on Jan 15, 2024 5:28pm
This stock, and the mining sector are moving not on gold,  but on interest rates. When we get news that the market takes as a sign that interest rates will be cut, the whole sector jumps, and bad news moves it the other direction. The whole sector is out of favor until the dollar weakens and interest rate cuts come. Yes, we will need production to increase and AISC to be lowered in order to ...more

I think we are  and have been building towards this year.  The mine was a mess and that is on John.  He has no clue how to run a mine.  He is a developer.  Blind luck got us boots on the ground.  Whether that was a mea culpa on his part or the institutions forcing him....who cares now.  It is better.  Adding additional infrastructure and tools to implement ...more

This stock doesn't move of PoG?  Basically mirrors it daily.
Comment by Swingandmiss on Jan 24, 2024 9:37pm
Yes, but what is causing gold to move?
Comment by Bucky86 on Jan 25, 2024 8:55am
A lot of things, many many factors affect day to day price.... and this stock, like most of the gold sector is glued to the moving PoG on a daily basis. which is fine but, lame.
Comment by Swingandmiss on Jan 25, 2024 6:18pm
Bucky, that was rhetorical. Saying it moves with gold is a very simplistic view. What's moving this stock, gold, and the entire sector is interest rates. When economic news comes out, the market decides what that means for interest rates, then everything moves accordingly.
