"...Luca21 I must say I am sick and tired of people expecting to be victimized by a Victoria's heap leach failure as if the failure was a personal attack of force. Mining is the most wealth building, life serving, method of value creation for human existence, without which we can all say goodbye to almost every physical position you can possibly hold dear.

If the Yukon decided to halt future mining in any way (which I doubt) then capital will go elsewhere and the Yukon can go back to no progress and mediocrity. People should thank investors for taking risk in the discovery and delineation and extraction of natural resources, for if our bet is wrong we lose money, yet if the risk we take pays off it seems almost everyone in the nation benefits.

It takes men of the mind, competence and intelligence to define and produce metal out of the ground, for without them the metals will remain unknowable and unreachable. People can make mistakes in judgement, and situations like this will teach future mine builders what to do. I bet a lot of moochers (government, and self entitled virtue signalers) would use this event to leech whatever wealth they can, but I swear if either first nations and/or government use this to demean the mining industry then I and many others will move our wealth elsewhere, to build value in nations that actually appreciate rational, life serving, value creating industries...."

Have a listen to this CBC interview with Chief Dawna Hope (25 days ago), in particular at around the 1:50 minute mark.  It's pretty clear that FNs recognizes the need to continue mining in the Yukon but it needs to be done responsibly.  A reasonable expectation for sure.  And to me responsibly means not only operating responsibly during day-to-day operations but also effectively ...more
