What a shame.... surely they will compensate us with the poisoning of our fish/food source... any thoughts of reopening will be met with widespread protests

Widespread protests...kind of like the 2 dozen protestors closing down an entire interstate in LA.  some people call a couple dozen people widespread protests.... Do you really care about the Yukon environment...or mostly just how much you profit on your short position?

Is it possible that the 68 fish were already dead and in Haggart Creek before the treated water was released and releasing the huge amount of treated water merely flushed them downstream from pockets or pools they may have been hung up in until flushed downstream to where they were later located dead? Something doesn't add up here.   According to JM the treated water was tested ...more

badger, The fish are just part of the story, next up are the gophers and whistling marmots. Where will this end, bug hotels? I feel sorry for the wildlife, but had the camp been washed down the gulch, no sane person  would even be talking fish.   YTG should take the money being spent on dead fish post mortems and give something back to  the local people now unemployed in ...more

This makes alot of sense. We know that only small variations in Temperature, ph and hardness can cause a fish kill. This is a creek not a larger river.  The water run through most likely a 2 stage RO would drop all contaminates and beneficial minerals. The high pressure process forcing water through a fiberglass membrane from what  I remember to around 50-90 ppm in the first stage down ...more
