Does this sound like a man that just takes the gold
and runs,
"McConnell also said he and senior team members will probably stick around for a while to help with the transition, and for now he has not resigned."

If PwC fires John at this point they will loose a valuable resource (I'm amazed he even wants to help, but I get it, it's 20 years of his life) , I personally would have taken an legal swing at the folks who said here's the Heap, it's all good, Load er up.
I mean this heap didn't even have 1/4 of it's rated capacity and it pukes. And I don't care why it puked, maybe marmots were making love on the pad too vigorously , maybe gophers where running around in the pipes drinkin n smokin, who cares, that's what VG paid people to take care of. <wink>
Well maybe not the marmots (they need to get a room) , but you get the idea? Right?
This is not sound like a man who says I'm just gonna take the gold, stuff it in my Sikorsky, and run South to the Border.
If in the future this appears to be a miscarriage of justice it shouldn't be a big surprise to The Yukon.
Big picture, yes there is cyanide spill and a large amount, Do I like it? No! But the cyanide does dissipate and VG was cleansing it and recycling it.
Maybe SDS/HATCH JV can step forward and enlighten.
Further:
Was a berm required for the < 100 fish? Maybe, but I also note that thousands recently died in BC and what have Fisheries done, nothing, except, say We''ll look into it.
In the meantime Mayo will lose those jucy 95K+ jobs and survive by maybe selling soap? Hey John helped you there...
May YTG, EMR and First Nations need to spend some time looking at the root cause and not going after the easy targets after six weeks?
in my opinion only
