New Mines in the Yukon "On Hold" till mid 25

Just read between the lines. ;)

"Before Smith weighs in too much on the cyanide-laden landslide at the mine site, he is waiting for the final report expected around June 2025 by an independent review board."

Read - That puts everything on hold till mid 25 at a minimum while SH's hang around getting ready for the next big one. ;)

"“I hope that people can find the patience, because we all need to get this right. We want to make sure this doesn't happen again.”

Read - We're don't worry we're going through the motions.  This is just one of many "make sure" it doesn't happen again in the last 60 years +/-.

Don't want anymore HLP/HLF "loss of containment" then just ban them.  Once was enough.  Someone up there needs to get a pair.

Just getting through reading "Dublin Gulch" by Micheal Gates.

Surprise! It appears somewhere during the magical process of approving the final "VG" "Heap" there was some concern running  a heap 12 months a year and if memory serves it was to run through the "summer" only season?

"Premier Ranj Pillai spoke at the conference in an hour-long question-and-answer with Loralee Johnstone, the president of the mines chamber.

The premier took a moment to correct the record.

Pillai remarked on comments made during a speech by First Nation of Nacho Nyak Dun Chief Dawna Hope earlier in the conference and aired on CBC radio in which Hope indicated Yukon First Nations were left out of the Yukon’s critical minerals strategy.

In fact, the Yukon doesn’t have a critical minerals strategy."

Surprise - A nice little Faux Pas!  It seems no one knows what the current strategy is.

“They can either come from a country that has no labour laws, no environmental oversight, you know, there's children working in dangerous conditions, or we can do it here in our own backyards, responsibly with processes that involve First Nation oversight and legislated community input and make sure that the benefits and the jobs flow to Yukoners.”

Really?  There is so much wrong with this statement considering the current track record of what's been happening in The Yukon it defies imagination.  There's a lot of Canadian based companies working overseas, so it's interesting to note what he thinks about this.

"Smith said something to keep an eye on is Western Copper and Gold’s Casino Project, a proposed open pit mine and gold heap leach facility that has been working its way through the assessment process.

“The world needs 150 Casinos to meet the current demand,” he said"

A 150 more HEAPS.  If that's the case someone better get their PIAG on.

150 Casino's.  All in the YUKON is the dream in the territory I guess?  LOL

And finally

"Something that I don't think is getting nearly enough attention is the Selkirk Development Corporation is undergoing the process to acquire the assets and purchase the Minto Mine. And I mean, I cannot understate how transformational having the Yukon First Nation-owned mine would be for not only our industry, but the entire territory.”

I'll let you sort that one out.
