SMF Adds 1.3m oz, down 7.5% on the news

Semafo reported 1.3 million oz increase in reserves, resulting in a massive selloff.  This is what I've been saying - gold is now being treated as a contaminant, or hazardous waste, finding it is equivalent to finding PCBs or other toxic waste on your land.  Volta executive should just take the little cash they have left and open a Tim Horton's in Ouagadougou before they stumble across any more gold.

BTW - Semafo, 7.3 million oz reserves, 1.325 billion market cap = $181/oz

Volta ~ 5 million oz, 90 million market cap = $18/oz

Obviously apples and oranges, but still interesting, especially since at ~4.80 Semafo's down about 65% from it's highs.

Down 12% Amazing I'm scared with VTR if they get nice drilling results from Kiaka South

They should just call the labs now, tell them to toss the cores, close down the offices, sell off or return the drill rigs and move onto new things.  Maybe they could run a nature park on their property or something like that  - I think the river runs through it, maybe rafting tours...

"Down 12% Amazing" . Make it down 15% (SMF down 79 cents at $4.47).....  The problem with SMF is that they only added 1.3m oz.... in this market, you have to find a monster deposit like the old Ventana Gold?!   . Look at XRC, by doing nothing to conserve cash is not good either.... people will look at you - oh, you are not progressing.... hence a beat down on sp?! . I ...more

And then Ventana was more or less stolen from the investors anyway (I know, I was one of them, made good money but not as much as I was expecting), with the whole dispute over their ownership of the property, setup so that billioniare guy (can't recall his name) could pick up the company on the cheap.   'Don't know where or when it's really a bottom'  Seems bottomless ...more
