Vmd growing in technology

Having an IT background and looking at Viemed career openings makes me feel comfortable about the future of this stock. They are growing, taking the right steps to keep a sustainable and smart profit. Right now they are hiring More than one ETL developer. The reasons companies do that are:

Companies need ETL developers when:

  • They’re on its steady rise and the amount of data is growing rapidly.
  • They’ve recently built a large-scale data processing system or there’s a need to update the existing one.
  • They constantly process existing business data or their main business scope is machine learning
This is great approach. They are building solid grounds for scalability. Love it.

InvestToronto,       I just went to the job openings and saw a post for ETL developer. I am not a tech person. Is there some type of formula that tells how many ETL developers you will need based on employees, patients, or something else? I'm trying to figure out what this growth means, and scale. Please explain in layman's terms.             & ...more

Hi LongTerm3, It's is hard to estimate those numbers. However, What I can say for sure is that their data is large enough to start serious learning for better decision making and sharper vision. Growth is imminent. They are at a point where just people experience and knowledge are not enough. VMD  needs this type of technology to maintain their business and be competitive for sure. Very hard to size this.  For what its worth - a major bank would employ 2 - 3 % of total work force as developers.   A small company could have disproportionately more.  2 new guys add say 3000 hours of coding a year.  Thats a decent amount of horsepower for web pages and straight forward stuff like order entry systems. The real key here is the word Cloud.  The ...more

And ETL also implies data warehousing - what ever that is called today :) - which is the start of close monitoring of demographics and statistics on the client base.  A very valuable part of our IPR and again a sure sign of maturation. I've been wondering what that VP IT does all day - looks like Casey's mom kicked him out of bed at last.

ETL is used to collect big data. The investment in remote patient monitoring is going to let VMD generate healthcare data which when anonymized can be sold to insurers, drug companies, device makers, etc. New revenue source.
