Study re NIVH published in Sept 2021

https://www.ajmc.com/view/noninvasive-ventilation-at-home-reduces-mortality-in-copd-with-crf

This study explores the association between receiving noninvasive ventilation at home and mortality, hospitalizations, and emergency department visits in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with chronic respiratory failure (CRF).

Results suggest that patients with COPD-CRF receiving NIVH treatment have a 38.3% reduction in risk of death, 21.0% reduction in risk of hospitalizations, and 42.9% reduction in risk of ED visits compared with untreated controls.

The results in the recent publication are not quite as impressive as the results in the January 2021 publication.  Nevertheless the results show statistically significant reductions in risk of death, hospitalization and ED visits.    Primary authors are the same - Viemed and Precision.
