On June10th 2013 drilling reached a depth of 5761 feet on the planned 13000 feet first well on the Kettleman middle Dome. The target for well 17-18 is the McAdams Sandstone formation at a depth of approximately 12,000 feet which has a thickness of 900-1200 feet. Other oil bearing formations that have been mapped on the Kettleman Project are the Kreyenhagen Shale the Vaqueros Sandstone and the much publicized Monteray Shale. Currently the drill is drilling through the Monteray Shale. The top of which was reached at a depth of approximately 5516 feet. Intermediate casing was succesfully set set into the Monteray at a depth of 5596 feet and drilling continues within the formation. The Monteray formation is estimated to have a thickness of 2200 feet.
