Great find! My view:   Worst case scenario- There have been major geological changes in the last 3 decades, and the mine is somehow no longer viable, so the canceled the conferences because it no longer matters.   Most plausible/boring scenario- Everyone is busy, because they've been working really hard, as always, and they couldn't justify the opportunity cost of attending these ...more

Perhaps because that is the week full feasibility is due and I suspect management may be too busy to tackle that..  Just a guess..

How about a takeover bid ?   I mean this stock price makes no sense when a major metals co is will ing to invest $ .55 per share into WOF.  So why would Korea Zinc or some other major looking for an assured supply not bid $ 150 MM for all of WOF.   Think about it.  They could then set up and sell Muglak gold mine off and they would have a free investment.  ...more

do you have any real historical data to back up your first paragraph, or your just doing this to scare people (not this person)....Geez.   upshot: why even mention such a remote, remote, remote possibility.

Warren just invested money into this to go into production and increase his profits ten fold or more....no buyout.

If by "just to scare people" you mean "present an accurate weighted expected value of possible outcomes", then yes. A .001% chance of catastrophic news still needs to be taken into consideration. Trust me, between me and you, I have more to be scared about than you do. Ignoring an unlikely risk is how you find ruin. Being aware of all risks and then evaluating their likelihood ...more

Warren likely had no part in this decision. The management at IMC are more than capable of making their own strategic decisions, and the management at TaeguTec and Tungalloy are more than capable of explaining their needs to IMC. The actual value of this investment to Berkshire Hathaway is a drop in the bucket. It's like if you made a big deal about a ten-fold return on a penny. This is about ...more

IMC did NOT pay .55/share, their investment is *equivalent* to that. It's important to read what majormac79 writes very carefully, because he provides a lot of valuable info, so it's easy to miss a point sometimes.   IMC invested .55/share to secure a strategic supply. This is miles away from us buying shares, because we are not getting the same strategic benefit. However, this isn ...more

Nick Smith said that ICM's investment (which hasnt officially gone through yet because DD is required with the FS release) is equivalent to 55cents a share and that they are in it to make money. Meaning just because they invest only at an equivalent of 55cents per share doesnt mean that is the valuation after the mine starts producing. Its a discounted investment that was required to get ...more

Majormac79, I agree with all your points!   What I meant was, I fear that people will misunderstand what you're saying, and think that this means IMC is *valueing* the company at .55/share, which I know is not what they're saying. The reality is, this is likely going to have a huge return on their investment. And I'm sure they're counting on it, but it's important to ...more

just for your infomation...one of many articles of visits of Mr. Buffet and his relationship with the South Koreans.  I think he is a player in the market.  Personally, I think he is aware, perhaps, a part of the decision making process--again, not important.   ________________________________   Warren Buffett Sees Korea as a “Promising Market” Real-time News Printer-friendly ...more
