I hope they stop putting out good news as we seem to go lower every time :)  When the BFS and the deal with IMC is finalized we'll be on our way, no question

Yes, although I'd hate to see what would happen in the event of bad news! --maybe the price would go up? To the extent that SP is rational (correlation not very direct IMHO), perhaps the elephant in the room, as the Fortune article indicates, is still China. This stock has an additional risk (compared to others) in that China could bugger the price up whenever they wanted--making it very ...more

I think if china started flip flopping on rare earth element quotas drastically it would cause huge protectionism against china because it would show they intend to control all manufacturing through manipulation of markets. It would be the same as when russia tried dumping steel many years ago and other nations tarriffed the sales

I agree that there are strong reasons for China not to do it -- but there may nonetheless be market fear that they might. I think it more probable that the Chinese see that there is a limited supply of everything, and have long-term policies to ensure that they can control their own supplies as long as possible -- this would be consistent with their other moves, such as buying up natural resource ...more

If china flip flopped on export restrictions there claims about preserving limited resources along with the environment wouldnt hold any credibility, where as it is now other nations can really say much about it

Don't worry, China cannot do it. The good stuff there is gone, like in other metal deposits as well. The labor, energy and other costs have been rising fast for a decade. China is no more the ultimate low cost producer it used to be.
