imc, sinhan, woulfe.....

Well, for the amount of cash I've got riding on this trio... if it were to collapse, my wife says I'll be in the dog house for all 2013... lol...On the other hand, after speaking to a family friend with Hyundai Investments, basically put to me, Sinhan will not let our people down.... uh meaning South Korea, not his office staff.Ya, I know, take with a grain of salt....GLTA LONGS>

Most retail investors grossly underestimate the downside risk to their investment. With WOF, I think it's important to consider that we have in essense double protection, at least for the short to medium term, in having 2 deals, one with IMC and the other with Sinhan. I know that many here have differing opinions on the relationship between the 2 deals, whether one or the other is a ...more

Some interesting history that I wasn't aware of. Korean Tungsten Co, which was bought by IMC and renamed TaeguTec, was established in 1916 when tungsten was discovered at the Sangdong Mine. Korean Tungsten Co. in fact owned Sangdong Mine. It's all coming full circle now.

What's more, POSCO was formed as a JV between the government and Korean Tungsten Co. It has since been privatized. Berkshire Hathaway (which also owns Taegutec through IMC, as I'm sure we're all tired of hearing about) now holds 5.1% of POSCO (as of 2011's letter to shareholders), which they've held for several years.
