News released on Fridays is almost never good...

As soon as I saw that release andtiming the other day of Q1 numbers, my gut knotted up. :(

As such, I've sold about 2/3 of my position...on the way down today...

I'm guessing they hit their Q1 numbers as they have always been good about managing investor expectations and trying to eek out a little bit above that...but...

I'm guessing fridays news might show us  that some of those margins have contracted more than we may have anticipated which might have people wondering...

I still love the story and likely to come back in to top up my position again, but get the impression that some on this board might be "less" aware of some of the finer points of timing of news releases so I  just wanted to share as to why "I" think we are seeing a down day today and likely to see a bit more of the same in the next few days...

I could certainly be wrong...and I know that WELL will see blue sky again down the road, but likely not in a straight line...

Two points.  1. If WELL was releasing after the market closed on Friday (ie. the market would need the weekend to digest before they begin selling) then you might have a point. DCF.... Two very good points...and I agree, in theory. That said, WELL is off significantly today on a volume spike...well over 3 million shares...I'm guessing I'm not the only one thinking this. We all know..like everything in the public market...The most positive twist will be put on the story. As I said, I believe they will hit their targets...no question. They have a good

WOW thats pretty messed up to sell 2/3 or a position. You may be right but - pretty messed up. Did you take off your pyramid hat as well, or just tighten the screws too much, maybe rearrange those ChicKen bones. They pre_announced good data yet again which has always been a good omen. Time will tell - I dont even know what to say about what you dit- its completly illogical.

yep, he might be right but I, rightly or wrongly, have held on and never sold a share. I rode it all the way down to $1.89 (U.S.) and will ride it this time also.  Like I said, right or wrong, I'm in for long haul and if I ever make money (my break is $5.18 U.S.) at least it will be long term gains.

Hey Jabez  You'll get your money back in due time...I'm pretty sure of that. WELL has given me a 60% return in a fairly short period of time...It's growing hard and fast..a temporary hiccup here and there is to be anticipated. It's the Friday news release that has me scratching my head and reading the tea leaves anticipating... why? If the news is so great, why release

yeah,  i'm not real excited about the Friday release.  I've got most of my porfolio in this so I'm just crossing my fingers.  Great investment strategy.   Never said I was smart!

hahahhaahhaah.  First congrats on the trade.  I never have a problem with people making money.  But just don't be such a scumbag.  This guy pumped this stock and the company to the moon.  He said he even loaded up last week.  But he decided to sell because earnings fell on a Friday.  Once again because earnings fell on a Friday.  Lololololololololol

I don't think there is too much to be worried about the Friday release (if it were after hours then I'd be more concerned). Margin compression is definitely something we could see and perhaps impacts from forthcoming legislation in the states that could effect WISP and CIRCLE might also have caused some to collect prior to earnings but there was a huge amount of covering today and I think

LOL , Enbridge always releases earnings on Friday. And last Friday, Firan Technology, AFTER HOURS,r eleased news of two acquisitions closing early. As retiredcf pointed out Well is prior to the market opening so ..... as you said , there are always exceptions.

PI.. I see that Firan news... Sounds like you can relate to my confusion as far as timing as you yourself specifically state on the Firan thread, after the news release, that "you wished the news was released midweek" Point is...I want and hope WELL continues to thrive, and expect it to do so...but timing for the release was "odd"
