While you are at it you might want to correct your tfsa substitution statement seeing as there is no such thing and many here are following your advice.

I believe it's you who is mistaken, unless the rules have changed since I lefte the business, which admittedly was 9 years ago. I'm absolutely certain it is regularly done in RRSP's to this day, so I don't see why it couldn't be done with a TFSA. I'll check with RBC.     In any event, if it can't be done I can't really see how people are following my ...more

I believe I said that I don't know how it works for rrsp but for a tfsa you cannot do that let me know what rbc tells you

Certainly. I will. Now you've got me curious myself.

I don't think you're getting what I'm saying. We aren't on the same page at all. I'm talking about a substitution, which is something entirely different from what you're talking about, and I'm pretty sure I'm correct. I've tried to call RBC but got a recorded message. You seem quite intent on proving me wrong, and that's your prerogative, but I think you' ...more

you can transfer from tfsa to rsp and vice versa. The transfer will be a deemed disposition at FMV. TT is right

Ahh the blind tt follower chimes in lol we weren't talking about a transfer from rrsp to tfsa he was suggesting that if you have no contribution room you can simply do a substitution into your tfsa there is no such thing and fyi TT am not intent on proving you wrong simply want people to have correct information. Also that was somebody else responding not me I had already dropped it.
