The Assoro plant, in the province of Enna, is one of the first biomethane production projects in the agricultural sector in Italy and represents a virtuous example of the circular economy, essential for achieving the objectives of decarbonization in the transport sector. Biomethane will also feed green fleets for sustainable road transport in the region, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The technology adopted is wet anaerobic digestion.

THE KEY NUMBERS OF THE PROJECT

4.4 million Sm³ of advanced biomethane per year which is equivalent to:

- more than 74 million km that can be traveled by methane vehicles

- almost 3,000 methane-fueled cars in one year

- a saving of 3,400 tons of oil equivalent

- reduction 8,580 t of fossil CO released into the atmosphere
