The problem with analysts
Filoux used to rant and go on and on about me having to learn some humility.
I have no idea what he's saying these days, other than when he's quoted by another poster.
I'm pretty humble.
I live in a small basement apartment now, how could I not be?
Analysts aren't humble.
They get out of university with an MBA, and they think they know everything.
They're an arrogant bunch.
They make big money and they think they're smarter than everyone else.
Brokers too.
There are several brokers here in my old office in London Ontario who make more than brain surgeons.
There are some very good brokers, but brokers generally think their sh** doesn't stink.
Several years ago, I was at a regional meeting at Deerhurst.
There's not much worse at a social event than being in a room with 300 arrogant stockbrokers.
The only thing worse were the analysts mingling amongst us.
It was brutal.
Full-on, unbridled, in-your-face snobbery.
"My sh*t doesn't stink."
I was so uncomfortable and basically disgusted with the conversations I either was party to or
overheard that I actually left the event.
Analyst give off an air of self-importance.
They have an aura of it.
It distorts their perception.
Who are these analysts who question Xebec's mananagement's ablility to execute?
Do they think management isn't aware of the consequences of over-promising and under-delivering?
No, management is aware, but the analysts think they're smarter than management.
Analysts want to demonstrate their superiority by giving projections that differ from the company's based on their own minimal knowledge and experience in the industry ,as opposed the management's.
That's basically a manifestation of their unwarranted arrogance.
Who is this analyst that wrote a report between 11pm on Monday and 1pm on Tuesday deriding Xebec's prospects?
He probably just took advantage of an expenses-paid trip to Denver.
He didn't even stay for the meetings.
Don't pay too much heed to analysts.
They're neither brilliant soothsayers, nor are they any better at predicting stocks than anyone else who has a modicum of experience, and a general knowledge of how the markets work.
