To put things in Perspective

Last inflationary shock wave was 1980-81-82. Inflation was 13.65, 10.3 ,and 6.16. And the ten year bond yield was , are you ready!! 1980 - 13.65%, 1981- 15.84%!! , 1982 - 13.01%. Right now inflation is clicking at around 8% and the 10year bond yield is at 3 02%!!!!. To say the Fed is behind the curve is quite the understatement. To say a new bull market is around the corner well I would simply say the corner is behond the horizon. Peace long XBC

For almost a hundred years, no bear market has lasted two years or more....There have only been seven that have lasted a year or more...   Investors should understand that bear markets are part of the investment landscape and part of a natural market cycle. Investors should be concerned with short-term investing during a bear market, but can generally withstand the down cycle for longer ...more

Excellent and factual historical fact. Using the classic bear mkt definition of 20% correction or more. The Nasdaq is in a bear mkt that started in Nov down 33% and the SP and Dow Jones are borderline. Million dollar question, does history repeat itself or given the perfect storm of macro variables : inflation spiral, rising rates trying desperately to tame the big I without throwing the economy ...more

I've been in and out of XBC at least 6 times in the last 2 and half years and was lucky enough to ride 4 to 8 band. All in all came out ahead well ahead. I went back in at 2.01 simply for a short squeeze trade ie .40 to 50cents it never materialized. And now with the short interest disappearing we are back to a show me stock for many quarters. Its going to be a long long summer baring you know ...more

Noob question, but if inflation is 8% and I know Ill get 3% from government bonds, wouldnt investing in equities be my best hedge against inflation? Population thinks otherwise and I dont understand why.
Comment by filoux004 on Jun 07, 2022 12:07pm
Valid question, since your purchasing power is negative 5%. The classic inflation hedge is to load up on commodities the primary inputs to the economy, oil ,gas, metals and lumber. Unfortunately many of those equities have already had huge run ups. With regards to gold and cryptos be my guess. I regard gold as medieval thinking and cryptos as the greatest fools euphoria in the history of mankind ...more

Yup Gann down about 50 percent on my summer dogs XBC, Ret.a, IDG down 30%, JK down 60%. My star is still CTS with an ACB of 6.67 . PEACE

honestly curious why did you not sell cts above 11? They report adjusted eps whatever that means meanwhile actual eps is not good and that won't change in the foreseeable future. It's done better than a lot of others in this downturn but you are always so bearish but didn't sell it when you had doubled seems foolish and like you aren't following your own advice.

For the record sold 1/3 but held on could not believe the multiple being paid for Lightspeed and nuvei at the time . CTS will exit 2020 with 2B in revs and close 100. EBITDA profitability will follow with all the cost synergies reductions after 31 acquisitions. Still holding 20k shares im all in on this one trading at .9revs. sitting a lot of cash close to 160M3 and and a line of credit about 160M ...more

Yeah I guess we will see but realistically all I hear you doing is touting it's revenue and think that saying big numbers is impressive. I doubt the market will care at all about their revenue in this market if it doesn't translate into positive eps that's just the way the market is right now revenue means pretty much nothing. Plus you are overall very bearish on the overall market ...more

I've done very well in the markets in the last 20 years. The last 6 months have been hell. Time will tell. Bottom line I've been living through trading for the last 10 years . Peace

Filoux I don't particularly care you do. TT is a known quantity. He's blindly an xbc bull and has been wrong for 18 months. Your the only one calling him a shaman, I sure as heck am not. I know you seem to get weird enjoyment out of forums and trolling through. Guess you need to add something to your day then watching tv and sports. Maybe you can send maestro some fan mail...
