Final thoughts

Final thoughts, after the 2008 crash it took 5 years to recapture markets ATH. On a brighter note, it took 2 years after the 1987 crash to recapture the ATH. Who knows, split the apple in the middle 3.5 years. What I do know is that mutual fund redemptions are in full swing and Cathy Wood will be remembered as just another shooting star. Peace Long XBC.

You can always make the numbers say what you want.   I remember very well the 2008 crash (caused by financial institutions in the U.S.).   Already in the spring of 2009 there was a multitude of good solid canadian companies that were at bargain prices. Already in the fall of 2009, Canadian banks had all recovered their losses from a year ago. Spring 2009 was the beginning of ...more

Good point Tony it's funny how people use 2008 as a scare tactic but fail to mention that 2008 would have been the best time to be buying.

[/quote Sorry typo problem.... Robert if you read my post properly, I never said that 2008 situation wasthe same as today's situation, I precisely specified that in 2008 it was a financial crisis that came from the U.S. and that barely a year later the good Canadian companies did well. Finally I replied to the post of Filoux who spoke of "after the 2008 crash it took 5 years to ...more

Fair enough I agree with you too... just saying any relation to todays issues and 2008 are a bit silly. I expect we won't see clarity on any of this for at least another year. I could be wrong I just feel the problems in the world are bigger than ever.

Even more silly is comparing 1980s to today. Interest rates are going up but it's 2022 not the 1980s.
