Still think Xebec will do well but no point in trying to argue against the forces of the market can't stop it.

Bear markets are traditionally the best time to put money to work if you have the proper time horizon. They of course appear horrible in the moment but in hindsight they have offered the best returns if you buy during corrections so I would have to disagree it's a horrible time to put money to work. But you have to ensure you are investing in the right companies or yes you can lose it all.

Some investors try to synchronize by trying to sell their stocks at the beginning a stock market correction to buy them back afterwards.   In fact, this is very difficult to do and most of the time these investors miss the best days the market will suddenly offers after a correction.   In fact, over a period of about twenty years, the TSX can give an annual return of 8%. However, ...more

On a positive note, learning so much of the macro world since past 6 months. Never thought a general market downturn could turn into a learning experience for me.

In fact, over a period of about twenty years, the TSX can give an annual return of 8%. However, the investor who would have missed the 10 best days on the stock market would have obtained only 5.5%. Worse, whoever missed the 20 best days would only have obtained 3% over the same period. the above is nonsense put forward by the 'industry', and has been proven specious 80+% of the ' ...more

I am curious Whognu You claim that it is proven that it is nonsense......do you have names, serious articles which confirm what you claim?? Is it just your feeling ? Where did you get this info?   Me what I wrote in my post, I heard it on finance shows and read it in finance articles.....I can probably find the name of the analyst who wrote the article.

its a market myth lots of articles discounting it i do agree tho, that for most, a buy and hold strategy works better because generally people will be too damned scared to buy back when the market looks like it is headed to zero and the bargains arrive.......... "google" works well https://seekingalpha.com/article/4333853-no-one-saw-coming-should-you-worry-10-best-days

Tankyou Whognu.....Nice article. I agree my post is not completely true.....But not completely false either.Trying to time yourself with the market isn't exactly good either.   By reading your article, what I understand is that we must always and at all times evaluate our portfolio and ask ourselves if our stocks are overvalued or not.

Not so sure why people are watching the paint drying here. Major recession as not even started, plan for 2023 AND MORE... Take a pill or go play outside, come back in 2 years... Life is very short, enjoy it !!! if not, buy now, stop mumbling about everything and wait 3-4 years. IMO Francois33

Why do you care if others want to discuss daily trading nobody is twisting your arm to log on and read it all and if we do enter into a technical recession the numbers will be out that let you know in 23 days which means we are possibly already well into the recession. But the news won't start talking about it until August.
