Here's a theory for everyone to scoff at

I think much of the recent selling is selling under duress. There's no question that there are thousands of margin calls being issued daily in this market. Probably tens of thousands. If an individual investor receives a margin call, he/she obviously has to put up the money or decide which stock to sell. If that person has to sell, they would have to sell far more of a marginable stock than one that isn't marginable. For example, someone facing a $30,000 margin call would have to sell $100,000 of Royal Bank to cover it. They would only have to sell $30,000 of a penny stock. I suggest many in such a situation would opt to take their loss in their penny stock. Let's take it one step further. In a hypothetical situation, let's say someone owns Royal Bank, Xebec, Greenlane, and Pyrogenessis in their portfolio. Which stock would they sell ? Xebec of course. Pyrogenessis and Greenlane don't have the liquidity to absorb much selling without hammering the stock price. This theory is further supported by the fact that much of the selling is coming from CIBC. I have no idea what their margin requirements are but they may be more stringent than other firms. This idea might not make sense to you, but it sure makes sense to me.

You're maybe right TT......This is a possible explanation for such a low sp, but the most obvious explanation in my opinion is simply the fear that haunts many investors that the Q2 results will disappoint again and that the sp will go down even more....   Of course, as for me, the current SP already takes all this into account while waiting for management to prove that they can ...more

"This is 100% either people don't want to own it going into the quarterly results because they don't trust management due to past letdowns.....or someone knows something and they want to get out before the financials.  Pray it's the first one." I suspect it's a bit of both, my guess is you'll see not much of a cash position left and the loss will be bigger than ...more

Margin calls are unlikely in these markets? That's unquestionably the stupidest thing you've every written.

You clearly don't have fn clue how the system works. Do you actually think margin calls have to be met the day they're issued? Well they don't. In some cases the client is given weeks or even months to get onside, depending on the client and the account. Just because an account is undermargined doesn't mean it's unsecured. You can have an account that is $500,000 undermargined ...more

Stay on point. This has nothing at all to do with the stock being at lows. It's specifically about selling over the last few days. Go reread my post from this morning. There is absolutely no way my proposition is fairy tale bs. Greenlane and Pyrogenessis are both down more than Xebec today and they haven't traded 250,000 shares between them. Quote my post and then try to refute the logic ...more

that POFS never had it to lose in the 1st place, he's as low as they come, just a waste of good oxygen. cheers ferret

My biggest criticism of Tamaracktop is that he recommended Xebec while not owning any shares himself. By his own admission, he has cost his friends millions. It's either a massive dilution or bankruptcy. I'm sure the debt holders will enjoy selling Xebec's assets for pennies on the dollar.

TT, how's the lady with the big position doing? Sorry inappropriate question. It's none of my F..g business. Peace
Comment by ferret_ca on Aug 09, 2022 3:54pm
I agree on the massive dilution or bankruptcy,  xbc has way too many moving parts for such a small company in an area where there is a lot of competition with deep pockets and they are  probably not too far off running out of options. pretty much past the point of even a reasonable speculation imho. cheers ferret

What infuriates me is that Tamaracktop recommended people buy Xebec in their TFSA. Can you imagine what a disaster that is for TT's friends who did that? I mean, losing money is hard, but at least I can take a tax loss on Xebec when the time comes.
Comment by marketwatch9 on Aug 09, 2022 4:18pm
You must be really furious this time because all stocks are losing money. Don't blame others after the fact.

I think you are all being a little harsh and unreasonable. I am pretty sure TT has already admitted he was wrong a few times I can probably even find the post where he said it. I get he is not a favourite of many of you here and a good financial advisor would not keep you holding from 11 to 70 cents and would have advised to sell at signs of trouble. But let's face it TT is not our financial ...more

Does it really imfuriate you? My friends aren't infuriated at all, because most of them bought below a dollar when I first started posting here in September 2017 when the stock was 37 cents. They aren't happy that's for sure. They've had a brutal round trip. So have I. But my message has always been the same. Hold this for the long term. My message has never changed. humility was never a strong point for tamaracktop/the titanic.... I think TT/kenny suffers from a small man's complex (or small p_cker complex)..... maybe people on this board should start calling TT "Napolean".....

Ha. 5 "likes" after 41 reads for that infantile post?. Sorry, I don't think so. How many aliases do you have? Maybe your time would be better spent if you and ferret and Filoux got together for a circle jerk.

TT, do you own Xebec??? Irrelevant, it's none of your business. Ps please keep posted on tomorrow's German closing with 4 decimal prcision. Much appreciated. Peace
