Here's a strategy ....

Here's a strategy if you have the time. It is laborious and time consuming. In 2008 we had the great recession right now we are in what I like to call 'the great cleansing'. It's bad out there, really bad ie the condo market. Every week dozens of cos are filing for CCAA protection, some of the cos are public co with a halt ie Xebec. So set up a spread sheet and put them on yr radar. Some co's will cease to exist but some will emerge as new going concerns and some will even retain their listings ie Reitmans. These new companies 2.0 will emerge as penny stocks .10cents-20cents but with clean balance sheets. Potential multi baggers will be at your doorsteps. Up to you to decide if it's worth the investment. Good day

So according to you dozens of companies a week are filing for ccaa care to elaborate with facts because I don't see dozens of companies filing for ccaa per week or is this just a random number you picked out of thin air with no evidence actually supporting that it's actually happening?

I will find you the link, this includes non public cos across Canada that represent the lion share. Obviously our focus our publicly listed co. Will get back to you. Peace
Comment by Gann999 on Oct 29, 2022 3:57pm
so how exactly would one buy them coming out of ccaa for 10 cents when they aren't even public companies as you suggested doing? Come on man don't make stuff up
Comment by filoux004 on Oct 29, 2022 4:02pm
You are not following me you extract from those lists the public co that have been halted and gone under CCAA. Then you follow the process to see if they will be successful in restructuring and possibly maintaining a listing. Make sense??
Comment by Gann999 on Oct 29, 2022 4:05pm
Yeah I get your strategy that's not the point. My point is why are you trying to make it seem as though dozens of public companies are filing for ccaa in your original post when it's just simply a false statement.

Ok Gann, I will tell what. When I see the next Reitman I will tell the board after buying 100000 shares haha. One name that's on my radar is Goodfood from star performer to survival mode. It's really sad since so many employees have shares. The other name is Indigo books I have a small position the multiples are very attractive.

So almost the same idea but not CCAA  FAR on Toronto had a debt restructuring leading to  a reduction of 55 million of it's debt last year. It's a small cap illiquid trader but Ihave a made good money on this and exited totally at the end of 2021 after holding a large quantity for probably 5 years.. The shares have really backed off lately and I have reentered over the last ...more

Thank you Savy, will look into the name . I hope this board can remain a exchange for new ideas. With regards to Xebec here's my take. The old boys club ie Quebec Inc. headed my the master of ceremonies Mr. Fitzgibbons will step in. Like I've mentioned before given Mr. V and Mr. A resums I am sure the Beaudoin, Desmarais families have been approached. Undoubtly it will be a fire sale , how ...more

If I may add, if I was advising the Desmarais family, I would suggest merging Xebec assets with Greenlane and have Mr Drouville run the show, Stanford grad great rsum and passionate about the sector. As I mentioned last year there was no way that Mr A and Mr V had the interest or passion to dedicate themselves to this very complex and laborious new venue which are alternative energies. They are ...more

filoux, IDG...?....Really....? Have you taken a look at the debt on their balance sheet dated June 30, 2022.....? Not good in a rising interest rate environment..... I thought your strategy was to wait to see if such companies enter then come out of CCAA protection with a new share issue, not dive in while debt is high....? BTW, didn't you mention in a past post a while back you were long ...more

The PR dated June 2, 2022 was to announce the financial results for the 2022 fiscal year end as at April 2, 2022 . See page 39 for the Balance Sheet.  "With no outstanding debt and a cash balance of $86.5 million, the Company continues to be well positioned to manage through any further macro-economic conditions, including the COVID-19 pandemic and impacts of ...more

The CCAA is only one strategy. It is very time consuming and very few co's will emerge as new gems. As for GRN I am still long and under albeit a small position. Hate to be pessimistic but its really really not pretty out there. Inflation in EU this morning is back over 10%, Putin the sicko is obliterating Ukraine energy infracture and wants to put EU into a dark winter, and god forbid that ...more
