A report from MarketWatch covered the Gartner ITXpo, where Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT, Stock Forum) CEO Steve Ballmer commented on the possibility that the software giant would still be open to pursuing an acquisition of Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO, Stock Forum). The report stated that Ballmer didn’t comment on a potential price for the company, which Microsoft made a failed bid for earlier this year with the idea of acquiring it for $33 a share. No formal talks are underway.

Yahoo is up 9.5% in afternoon trading to $12.86.
