Word on Wall Street

“The key thing to realize is stocks right now are priced for a double-dip recession. I don’t think that’s going to happen, but for right now the perception is very negative, and there isn’t enough change in reality to change the perception,” David Kelly, chief market strategist at JPMorgan Funds, told MarketWatch in a reference to mixed economic reports.

“The pullback is partly a lack of fresh retail money going into the market,” Kelly added.

TORONTO-NEW YORK (The Canadian Press) - The Toronto stock market moved lower Thursday as a mixed bag of U.S. data failed to ease worries about the strength of the economic recovery.

The S&P/TSX composite index fell 45.47 points to 12,101.79 while the TSX Venture Exchange moved down 0.67 of a point to 1,688.03.

New York's Dow Jones industrial average closed 76.89 points lower at 10,662.42.

The Nasdaq composite index gave back 7.47 points to 2,327.08 and the S&P 500 index was down 9.45 points at 1,124.83.

Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE, Stock Forum)
Nike Inc. reported its financial results for its fiscal 2011 first quarter ended August 31, 2010. The company said revenue rose 8% to $5.18 billion in the quarter from $4.8 billion in the same period last year. Net income for the quarter rose to $559 million or $1.14 a share from $513 million or $1.04 a share in the year earlier period.

Nevada Sunrise Gold Corp. (TSX: V.NEV, Stock Forum)
Nevada Sunrise Gold Corp. said the comnpany, on behalf of the earn-in joint venture with Animas Resources Ltd. (TSX: V.ANI, Stock Forum), has increased the size of its Golden Arrow property in Nevada by staking a total of 84 additional claims along the north and south boundary of the current block. The estimated area of land covered by these claims is just over 1,500 acres (about 607 hectares). The Golden Arrow property is located in the central Nevada high desert, approximately 60 kilometers (40 miles) east of Tonopah
