Word on Wall Street
"An awful lot of this (Friday's credit downgrades of nine euro zone countries by Standard and Poor's) is baked in," said Bob Gorman, chief portfolio strategist at TD Waterhouse, in an interview with Reuters. "Ratings agencies tend to be a lagging indicator rather than a leading one. They respond to what has happened rather than what is going to happen."

The S&P/TSX composite index rose 27.54 points to 12,258.6 led by gains in the mining and information technology sector, while the TSX Venture Exchange was 2.9 points higher at 1,538.93.
