Stock Forum) Chairman Prem Watsa, who left the board of directors of the smartphone maker this morning, is said to be exploring ways to take the company private. The board of directors announced earlier in the day that it has launched a review of "strategic alternatives'' which could mean a partnership, joint venture or a sale of the company.

Stock Forum). Fertilizer producer. Up $1.02, or 3.31 per cent, at $31.87 on 5.86 million shares.
Kinross Gold Corp. (

Stock Forum). Miner. Up 34 cents, or 6.27 per cent, at $5.76 on 5.34 million shares. The gold sector led the advancers by percentage at 190.55 points, up 5.35 per cent as the price of bullion jumped US$22 to $1,334.20 per ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Chief operating officer Stephane Gonthier is moving to California to become president and CEO of 99-cents Only Stores. Dollarama founder Larry Rossy will assume Gonthier's duties on an interim basis and Gonthier will remain for a time to ensure a smooth transition.
