Stockwell Day, the former Conservative government Minister for International Trade and he Asia-Pacific Gateway, has been announced as joining the Board of Directors of infrastructure operations firm WesternOne (
TSX:T.WEQ,
Stock Forum).
The Day sign-up is a coup for the $171m market cap company, which has posted solid growth numbers but suffered ongoing share price declines over the last twelve months.
"This appointment is part of an on-going effort to enhance and strengthen both the Board and the senior management team at WesternOne" said Darren Latoski, CEO of WesternOne in a statement. "Stockwell Day's service at the most senior levels of the provincial and federal governments will be of enormous benefit as we continue to expand our business operations in Canada and abroad."

When he was a Member of Parliament, Stockwell Day was appointed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper as Canada's Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway and Regional Minister for British Columbia, advancing the economic and trade interests of BC. He currently serves on the Board of the CanadaIndia Business Council and is Vice Chair of the Canada China Business Council.
